“Sifu” Scott Forrest – 7th Degree Black Belt

KMA Martial Arts (formerly known as Kids Martial Arts) was started by Sifu Scott Forrest in October 2010.  Scott began his martial arts training in 1985 at the Browns Bay Kempo Bushido Ryu Dojo under Senior Master N.Palmer. His experience includes 30 years martial arts training/instructing in Shaolin Kempo (see Scott has attended well over 50 national seminars and events training directly under New Zealand Kempo Founder and Grand Master, Robert Gemmell along with many of the country's Senior Kempo Masters.

In April 2010 Scott resigned from the Shaolin Kempo martial arts school to concentrate on starting-up and running Kids Martial Arts. Scott holds the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt and the title of "Sifu" meaning teacher.

“Shifu” Taku Poll – 6th Degree Black Belt

In June 2011 Scott was joined by Mrs Taku Poll to teach and help run the Murrays Bay classes.  Taku also started her martial arts training at the Browns Bay Kempo Bushido Ryu Dojo. She has been taught directly by some of New Zealand's leading Kempo Senior Masters as well as Grand Master Robert Gemmell. She has attended a large number of national Kempo seminars and events and competed in tournaments at a very high level. With over 20 years martial arts training/instructing in Kempo, Taku holds the title of "Shifu" meaning Teacher and the rank of 6th Degree Black Belt.

“Senior Chief Instructor” Rochelle McFarlane – 4th Degree Black Belt

October 2011 saw Rochelle McFarlane join the team of Instructors at KMA Martial Arts.  Rochelle has trained for over 10 years in the art of Kempo under “Shihan” Kevin Watts and both Scott and Taku.  Since joining KMA, Rochelle has become a respected and valued member of the instructing team.

At a Black Belt grading held in November 2018, Rochelle’s ability was recognised with her promotion to the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt. 

"Chief Instructor” Albert Van Niekerk – 3rd Degree Black Belt

2005, Albert started his martial arts training in Shaolin Kempo at the age of 5 years old.  Six years later in November 2011 Albert was promoted to the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt. 
In February 2013, with 8 years training in Kempo, Albert joined the instructing team at KMA, and is the youngest member of the team. At a Black Belt Grading in November 2018, Albert's performance resulted in his promotion to Chief Instructor and the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt.
